Owen and Hanne work in separate studios, surrounded by the bush and an extensive ethnic collection. Combined they have 77 yrs. of art making experience. Both have taught overseas and are currently tutoring at Whitireia Polytechnic, Visual Arts Dept. and The Learning Connection. Owen exhibits in Japan each year, with the netsuke carvers, is represented in Japanese books and the Royal collections. This year (2008) he is invited to teach jade and bone carving in Czech Republic. His inspirations originate from ancient artefacts and past cultures. Hanne originally a ceramist from Denmark has explored jewellery in NZ; exhibiting in Europe and the USA on a regular basis. She is influenced by NZ materials, her Scandinavian background and her time working in the USA and Japan.
Owen and Hanne’s philosophy is to pass on skills learnt and share the beauty of objects that tell stories.
